Holi, the festival of colours is celebrated at the approach of vernal equinox. It comes on the last full moon day of the lunar month Phalguna (Phalguna Purnima) and marks the end of winter season. As per the Hindu Calendar Holi date varies in Gregorian calendar and usually falls in March and sometimes in late February. It is the first major Hindu festival in Gregorian calendar and for some believers beginning of New Year too.
