Guru Purnima Celebration 2017 A Day of the Master

Today is the appearance day of Srila Vyasadeva, or VedaVyasa, who composed the major portion of Vedic literature.

Today we are celebrating Guru-puja, because we are very indebted to our Gurudeva, the guru-parampara and Srila Vyasadeva. In India, all the various sampradayas –Vaisnava and Mayavadi as well – accept Sri Vyasadeva as Guru, and all worship him on the day of Guru-puja without hesitation.

“This Srimad-Bhagavatam is the literary incarnation of God, and it is compiled by Srila Vyasadeva, the incarnation of God. It is meant for the ultimate good of all people, and it is all-successful, all-blissful and all-perfect.”

This is a day of remembrance of all gurus, through whom God grants the Divine grace of Spiritual knowledge to His disciples.

Guru Purnima is an opportunity for disciples to recommit themselves to following their Guru’s guidance and teachings.

Sri Guru Mantra

गुरुर्ब्रह्मा गुरुर्विष्णुः गुरुर्देवो महेश्वरः।

गुरुर्साक्षात्‍ परब्रह्म तस्मै श्री गुरवेनमः॥

Adi Guru

Ascetics distance
The stoic stance

All this they bore
And He could not ignore

Seekers so intense
Broke his obstinate stance

Celestial sages seven
Strived not in search of Heaven

But to find a way for every human
To find a way beyond hell and heaven

They toiled for their race
He could not withhold his Grace

He turned his sacred face
To south to look upon their race

They not only beheld his divine face
But held the downpour of ultimate Grace

As the Beginningless One flowed
In knowing, seven sages overflowed

To release the world
From its crusted mold

To this day the sacred knowing flows
We will not rest until every vermin knows

Lord Hanuman Jayanthi Special

Shree Hanuman Jayanti

Hanuman Jayanti was celebrated yesterday with devotion and religious fervor. Hanuman temples were decorated with flowers and colorful lights all over the country. Bhajans and Kirtans to celebrate Shree Hanumanji’s birthday were also organised in many places.

What is the importance of Shree Hanuman in the Hindu Religion? Why do so many people worship Shree Hanuman so ardently? They even observe a fast and eat only once in the evening and that too only sweet food, no salt.

Shree Hanuman is known for his devotion towards Lord Ram. His selfless love and comitment to serve Lord Ram empowers him to achieve anything that may be required to serve his Lord. It is this unique power that enables him to fly to the far off mountains to bring the rare herb that is needed to revive Lakshman.

Jai Bajrang Bali
Lord Bajrang Bali symbolizes strength and unparalleled devotion and selfless service. He is the greatest devotee of Lord Bajrang Bali and he is a Brahmachari (celibate) and humility is his hallmark.

The greatness of Hanuman is explained by Lord Ram in the Ramayan

Lord Ram said to Hanuman, ‘I am greatly indebted to you, O mighty hero. You did marvelous, superhuman deeds. You do not want anything in return. … you have not asked for anything at any time. You threw away the precious garland of pearls given to you by Sita.
How can I repay my debt of gratitude to you? I will always remain deeply indebted to you.
I give you the boon of everlasting life. All will honor and worship you like myself. Your idol will be placed at the door of my temple and you will be worshipped and honored first. Whenever my stories are recited or glories sung, your glory will be sung before mine. You will be able to do anything, even that which I will not be able to!’
